Wicked takes place before the classic Wizard of Oz story even began! Before Dorothy, two young girls met in the Land of Oz, became rivals, and then friends. One was born with emerald green skin, with a brilliant mind and a fiery spirit. The other was classically beautiful, with great ambition and incredible drive. The green-skinned Elphaba was ostracized by her family and by everyone at school. The beautiful Galinda was destined to be forever popular. Over the course of Wicked, we discover how these two young women became rivals and then the closest of friends – and how they ended up as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

The Waiting Room tells the story of a group of strangers all in the waiting room of a hospital. Some awaiting good news, some bad news, some unsure what the outcome will be. This show tells a story about connection, support, the complexity of human emotions, and hope.

Competitive Monologue and Scene opportunities:
Students have the option to compete a monologue or a scene with another student. BravO! Dance and Talent Competition offers the wonderful chance for theater performers to compete at Regional and National competitions. Each student must have an audition/meeting with teacher Hannah to be evaluated before determining if the performer is ready to compete.
Students who compete need to keep actively working on the craft of learning and growing as an actor and performer. To this end, students are required to participate in either session of a VDT theater class or perform in a play or musical throughout the studio season at school, a community theater, or a professional theater.
Recreational Monologue/Scene opportunities:
Students will have the option to perform a monologue or scene (3 students max in group) at our theater recital at the end of the season. This would be a recreational specialty number to help students gain confidence, work on showmanship and memorization! Students who register to perform a monologue or scene at the recital are also required to participate in a Session II VDT theater class, perform in a play or musical in the winter / spring at school, a community theater, or a professional theater.
The deadline to start a specialty opportunity is no later than February 15th.
